Dr. Farai Russell Sigauke is an experienced medical professional with over 20 years of practice in both public and private healthcare sectors. He received his MBChB degree from the University of Zimbabwe in 2004. Following that, he completed specialist qualifications from the College of Medicine of South Africa as a Specialist Physician (FCP(SA)) and as a Cardiologist (Cert. Cardiology (SA) Phys) through the University of Witwatersrand. In 2012, he became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP(UK)), achieving the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (FRCP(UK)) in 2022.
Dr. Sigauke is dedicated to research and academic pursuits. He holds a Diploma in HIV Management from the College of Medicine of South Africa, a Diploma in Clinical Research from the Kriger Research Center, Canada, and a Master's degree (MMedSc(Med)) from the University of KwaZulu Natal, where his research focused on Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. He is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree (PhD) at the University of Witwatersrand, specialising in the complex aspects of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy.
Dr. Sigauke's commitment to patient care is evident in his extensive involvement in translational cardiovascular medicine. He has conducted critical cardiology research and has been published in numerous reputable medical journals. Moreover, he has collaborated with esteemed research institutions including the Perinatal HIV Research Unit in Klerksdorp, Tshepong Hospital Complex in Klerksdorp, and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
As a certified cardiologist with international exposure, Dr. Sigauke has worked at various healthcare facilities, including Milpark Netcare Hospital in Johannesburg, Klerksdorp/ Tshepong Hospital in South Africa, Lenmed Health Bokamoso Hospital in Gaborone, and Delta Medical Centre in Maun, Botswana. He began his professional journey with an internship at Harare Central Hospital and fulfilled his community service at Chipinge District Hospital in Zimbabwe. While a medical student, he completed a cardiology elective attachment at the Royal County Surrey Hospital and St George’s Hospital in London, UK. Dr. Sigauke currently offers his expertise at Melomed Bellville Hospital in Cape Town.
